What do the White House, the Kremlin, and the Great Wall of China all have in common? They all display a menorah representing light and freedom. Yet, the town of West Milford will not have this representation. West Milford has a wonderfully diverse community. It is sad and disgraceful that the only lights that will be seen in front of town hall this holiday season are those lighting up a tree that many call secular.
Life is complicated and our world can be quite harsh and cruel. When members of the community want to bring joy, feelings of freedom and peace to the center of town, our council should be nothing but supportive. The menorah may not be around for all to enjoy, but please join us on Dec. 4 at 5:15 as we light the candles on the final night of Hanukkah. Embrace the light, share in our joy and celebrate the holiday season as we will share with you at the tree lighting!
