To the Editor:
Thank you and congratulations to Greg Bailey on a record breaking 22 years of serving the people of West Milford on the Board of Education.
Back in 1996 Google did not exist yet, Bill Clinton was president, and we had just survived the Blizzard of 96’.
Thank you for always supporting the students and teachers above all else.
I know whenever someone from town came to you in need, you listened and then figured out a way to help.
Thank you for always being a man of action, decisiveness and leadership, not a man of pontification, fence-straddling, and political correctness to be popular.
Thank you for being a role model for your four children throughout their childhood going through the West Milford public school system. You showed them the meaning of volunteerism, service, and giving back to the community.
I will never forget you hanging from a rope attached to a crane 150 feet in the air hanging up lights on the West Milford football field.
Did I mention you are a man of action?
There would be no McCormack Field today without you.
From the actual lights, to the turf grass (people tried to sue you thinking you were crazy back then and now people think schools are crazy who don’t have turf), to the scoreboard, to the asphalt parking lots and roads surrounding the schools, to the recently placed Legacy Rock that will be a Highlander tradition for decades to come.
This is one example of improvements that benefit the children of West Milford that do not happen without you. They are just debated and talked about in meetings for years. You’re a doer, not a dreamer.
Finally, thank you for showing your family true class, grace, and leadership on how you handled the 2018 election season.
You never made one negative comment about a competitor in public or in the privacy of your own home. You were too busy being a small business owner, NJSIAA leader (Google it), high school official assigner, West Milford Board of Education member, loyal son, big brother, loving husband, dedicated father, and proud grandfather to get involved in all that.
Congratulations dad and thank you for being our hero. We love you and are very proud of you.
Congratulations to the three members voted to the West Milford Board of Education.
Best of luck to you and thank you for your service.
Thank you,
Dave Bailey (03’), Sara Bailey (04’), Matt Bailey (05’), Kaitlin Bailey (08’), Tom Bailey (10’), and Ava Bailey (2034),
