‘Greenwood Lake needs more money to try to deal with the algae bloom’

Hello, my name is Mark Ruffolo and I am going into 7th grade. I am writing this letter because I am concerned about the algae bloom in Greenwood Lake.

This year Greenwood Lake got $53,000 from the state when other major lakes got so much more money.

Greenwood Lake needs more money to try to deal with this issue.

Lakefront owners taxes were raised so much a few years ago. Last year, as you all know, the algae bloom was so bad they closed the lake for swimming.

We couldn’t go in the lake or on kayak or paddle board all summer at our summer house. We were told not to touch the water because of the harmful bacteria in it.

I am asking all of you please look into how Greenwood Lake could get more money to help the algae bloom problem. If we all speak up and contact our Senators, Governor and Congressman so we can hopefully make a difference and get more money to take care of the algae bloom problem.

Last week you could see algae bloom everywhere and I hope it doesn’t get worse where they will close the lake again.

    Thank you.

    Mark Ruffolo
