Horton endorses Richards, Ofshinsky

Last November, I was honored by the voters of West Milford with a seat on our town council. This November, I ask that you vote for town council candidates John Richards and Dave Ofshinsky. Mayor Bettina Bieri and I personally asked John and Dave to throw their hat in the ring, and we were gratified when they agreed to run.

John Richards (not to be confused with Dave Richards of the school board), believes in giving back to the community. He is a former president of the West Milford Players and a 2010 Big Brother of the Year. I respect John for his ability to combine an analytical, results-oriented mind with a genuinely warm and gentlemanly approach to analyzing problems and garnering the consensus needed to achieve long-term solutions.

Dave Ofshinsky’s dedication to public service began when he enlisted in the army during the Viet Nam era, which provided him with valuable life experiences and leadership skills. As a senior level financial executive, Dave has expertise in managing multi-million dollar budgets and has a deep understanding of regulatory and funding issues. Dave is a founder of a battered women's shelter and served on its board for 20 years. Most recently, he accepted the challenge of an appointment as an MUA commissioner.

The issues facing our town require people who have the requisite skills, commitment, and temperament to work together effectively. John and Dave are two such people, and I ask for your vote for both of them on November 6. Thank you.
