West Milford Residents should vote for John Richards and Dave Ofshinsky, Row A, for Township Council on Nov. 6. These smart and caring council candidates have been serving West Milford residents for years.

John, a 20-year West Milford resident, was the president of the West Milford Players for seven years and was named a 2010 Big Brother of the Year by Big Brothers/Big Sisters of New Jersey. He is the director of Operations for a multi-million dollar distribution company, where he specializes in analyzing problems, finding consensus to achieve long-term solutions, and ensuring that projects are carried out in an efficient and cost-effective manner. As a councilman, he will apply those skills to the problems that come before the council, and he will work to achieve not only cost-effective solutions to township problems, but also harmony and consensus among the council members. John loves living in the “heart of the Highlands,” and will work to make our town the number 1 eco-tourism destination in the Highlands, to provide greater opportunities for local businesses to thrive.

Dave, a 25-year West Milford resident and an active member of the Crescent Park community, who lives across the street from the Crescent Park Sewage Treatment Plant, is a recent appointment by Mayor Bieri and the township council to be a volunteer member of the new MUA Board of Commissioners. He understands the science, practical and financial problems of upgrading the MUA’s water and sewer operations, and has spent thankless hours during the past few months working on those problems. He is an accountant, a senior-level financial executive and CFO at a major community health center where he manages multi-million dollar budgets and uses his deep understanding of regulatory and funding issues with Trenton. Dave will ensure efficient township operations, and his familiarity with Trenton will support the effort to control local taxes by working to end Newark’s exploitation of West Milford’s water resources. Also, Dave is passionate about our natural environment and will promote our town as the Highland’s premier outdoor recreation destination.

Both of these candidates are impeccably honest, hard-working, and will strive to promote open, transparent, efficient and effective government for West Milford. As a long-time supporter of the West Milford Players, I have known John for years, and during the past few months I have spent many hours interacting with Dave. I have great confidence that they would be superior council members, working to improve the financial situation for our businesses and the quality of life for our residents.

Do join me on Nov. 6 in voting for John Richards and Dave Ofshinsky on Row A for West Milford Council.
