I am usually of the opinion that political endorsements telling people who to vote for are arbitrary and a manipulation attempting to swing voters to their candidate choices. I am now doing what I said I don’t do, but then again politicians do it every day without conviction which is precisely why I’m writing.
I am weary from hearing assurances by candidates who, when elected, only abandon those promises to play it safe and plan their next re-election. Our community needs people to embrace and tackle problems that are paramount for West Milford even if it may be unpopular to some. Playing it safe is no longer an option West Milford can afford.
Many hard decisions over the next three years are required to be made and we need representation from those people who possess that conviction. I’ve known John Richards and Dave Ofshinsky for years. I also know that neither is afraid to take on an unpopular issue for the betterment of the West Milford. For instance, who in their right mind would want to tackle the problems of the much plagued MUA? Dave Ofshinsky stepped up to the plate to “right the ship.” It took leadership for his commitment. John Richards’s dedication to the arts community in town displays his visions for a comprehensive resolute community for all to experience.
It takes more than being an accountant, a CEO, a director, lawyer, etc. but a seasoned individual in many disciplines. Taxes? Nobody’s going to lower your taxes and if they promise, get it in writing and ask them what they are asking for swamp land. What they can do is hold the line and not increase them. Everyone wants Watershed aid so tell me something I don’t already know. We all know the problems, we need people with solutions.
John Richards and Dave Ofshinsky are not promising the moon but they will promise to work their hardest with conviction in seeking the best solution for West Milford. For that, I will cast my vote for John Richards and Dave Ofshinsky.
