Text, email governor to stop permit for compressor station

| 25 Oct 2023 | 01:16

Stop the unpermitted illegal fracked gas compressor construction in the Highlands. Deny a new exemption from the Highlands Act.

This is the time to raise your voice by email and text. It is easy to do; contact info is at the bottom of this letter.

On Aug. 31, a New Jersey Superior Court ruled that the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) should not have issued a Highlands Act exemption to Tennessee Gas Pipeline (TGP) to build its massive East 300 pipeline expansion project in the Highlands Preservation Area and it remanded the permit decision back to DEP for further evaluation.

Despite this ruling, Gov. Phil Murphy’s DEP failed to immediately stop the ongoing illegal construction activity on the West Milford compressor station.

I read the ruling and it was clear. The permit should never have been issued. Our health and our water would be put at serious, unnecessary risk and there is no benefit to us.

Our council and mayor have not stood with the people of West Milford, who have come out en masse for years to speak against this harmful project.

The mayor has repeatedly said it is up to us, not the council. Please take her up on it.

This is our best opportunity to get a permanent stop. I urge you to write directly to the governor right now to tell him not to re-issue this permit.

At this moment, construction is continuing illegally. Your voice matters. Together we can stop it. Let’s flood his inbox because:

    Permit denied = Project cancelled.
