I just read another Eleanor Monahan rant, this time with her opinion against adding a turf field behind Macopin. Instead, at Bubbling Springs are you looking for a paved walking path with informative signs such as “Oak Tree” and “Caution: Frog Crossing Ahead?” Go visit an urban town with woods carved out of a city block for that. This township can not even find a place to install it’s own ballfields, which is a sad reflection on the current highlands restrictions.
A vibrant town thrives with families. Organized sports is a draw for any community. On the page after Mrs. Monahan’s letter is her son’s picture living in Florida celebrating his first wedding anniversary. There evidently was no reason for him to settle in West Milford to raise his family.
Maybe Mrs. Monahan should spend a day enjoying the fresh air at one of the existing sports facilities so she can witness their constant use, more than any “park” would attract. If you want a park, go enjoy one of our numerous tax-exempt county, Newark and State Parks located in town that we all pay for, not to mention all the township-owned properties now off the tax rolls.
