Veterans were properly honored

I would like to commend the American Legion for the moving ceremony at Town Hall on Memorial Day honoring all of our veterans, dead or alive.

The West Milford High School Band was great as they played a medley of armed forces songs. The flag raising and Star Spangled Banner were impressive.

I was particularly moved when the living veterans from World War II, Korea, Vietnam, the Gulf War, Iraq, Afghanistan and all the wars including the Cold War were asked to come to the center. Then the families of those serving now were asked to come out. Of course our Gold Star Mothers were also honored. Then the National Guard and Coast Guard were called out. Everyone was properly honored!

Our country and our God were also honored with the singing of America and God Bless America. The invocation by Rev. Ken Kondratowski, pastor of the Calvary Bible Church, and the benediction by Fr. Michael Rodak, administrator of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, were inspirational, as were the two letters written by grade school students.

Our God must have been pleased too as He gifted us with a fly by of a bald eagle!

Thank you for a beautiful ceremony honoring our veterans.
