More electric company woes

To the Editor: I read your article and quite frankly we are shocked and feel like we have been left out in the cold. Why does it not surprise us that the town council is interested in themselves and no one else. Other parts of West Milford suffer the same power outages if not worse. The rest of us have gone to great expense as well because of frequent outages. Not only did we have to buy a generator but, we had to buy battery operated sump pumps, surge protectors and replace hundreds if not more than a thousand dollars worth of damaged equipment. The list goes on and I’m sure we are not alone. Orange and Rockland has had 27 outages ranging in duration from seconds to hours over the last 18 mos. I have filed complaints with the Board of Public Utilities and not much has changed. I also at my own expense mailed letters to my neighbors urging them to join the fight and complain to the Board of Public Utilities every chance they get. I can only do so much by myself and that’s why I am requesting your help in this battle with the electric companies. Maybe if they were forced to pay for the damage that they cause, they will do more to fix this problem. John Diefenbach West Milford
