To the editor: Last year there was a lot of talk about why the weeds were so terrible on the New Jersey end of Greenwood lake blamed mostly on the delay in getting the weed harvester working for various excuses or reasons, depending on what one believes. I sent in a picture of what our “lakefront” home looked like on Memorial Day weekend of 2005 with my thoughts on the topic. Well, since then, much rhetoric has appeared in the press about the overall condition of Greenwood Lake, and all the trials the bi-state lake commission has endured while trying to do their appointed work. The drawdown that was to have occurred last fall never happened, the dredging of the south end of the lake never happened but we were promised that the weed harvester on the Jersey side of the lake was operating well, and was going to take care of the weeds before they became a problem. Pictures don’t lie and some things never change ... except our property taxes which continue to increase each year. Does this equate to taxation without representation? Ursula Holden-Corr Hewitt
