To the editor: What an exciting time it has been to be involved in the Republican Party here in West Milford. Let me explain. On June 7, many members of our organization as well as other local Republicans were involved in a primary for council and for county committee membership. The campaigns were not for or against any individual but to see who the registered Republicans of our town would have as their standard bearer. I am so proud that so many people wanted to participate in good government and took part in showing the public that there is room for all Republicans, who want to be active, to be a part of the Republican Organization in West Milford. The contest is over and the people have made their decisions. I want to publicly thank all of those who desired to be of service to West Milford through the Republican Party. My hat is off to all of you. And this openness of our party continues on. On Monday evening, June 12, the Republican County Committee met to reorganize. There are two very fine men who asked to be chairman of the grass roots effort that is provided by the Republican County Committee. They were Harry Clark and Carmello Scangarello. In my opinion, the committee members could not go wrong. Both individuals are known to be men of integrity and have the ability to get the job done. Both are experienced and both would be able to do a great job. Carm did get the nod, but again, this was not a contest against either person, but another example of how the people in this case the committee get to make the choices. To all Republicans and to all of the residents in West Milford, it is the aim of the Republican Party to bring to the table actions that will continue to make our town, West Milford, a better place in which to raise our children, build our lives, and enjoy all that the good Lord has given to us.
