To the editor: Citizens of West Milford: your support is needed to protect the environment, our water resources, and our quality of life. In January 2005, I helped organize a rally in town hall against the Eagle Ridge development. The organizers did not know how many people would attend, but were optimistic that many West Milford residents were concerned about this large-scale development. Our optimism was surpassed by an extremely large turnout. Another “ridge” is now threatened by another unwise development scheme. Valley Ridge, across from Bald Eagle Village on Union Valley Road, would consist of 108 units on 27 acres of forest and wetlands. If you are concerned with the environmental impact of additional runoff into Pinecliff and Greenwood Lakes; the economic impact of increased township services, including more students in our schools; the impact of increased traffic on Union Valley Road; and most of all, the impact on our fragile drinking water resources, please attend the next planning board meeting on July 6. The hearing on Valley Ridge will be held at 7:30 p.m. in West Milford Town Hall. Since most of our township officials were opposed to Eagle Ridge, I am assuming they will be opposed to this development. Let’s show them our support by attending this important hearing.
