To the editor: Recently the West Milford Education Foundation held its third annual Taste of the Highlands dinner at the Lodge at Camp Ocawasin. As chairperson for the event, I would like to thank those responsible for making the evening delightful and exceeding the fundraising goals of our organization. A huge thanks goes to all who generously donated food for the event. Without their support we all would have been very hungry! Sincere appreciation goes out to Arta, Bella Sera, Berk’s BBQ, BJ’s Wholesale Club, Cable Car Deli, Casa Bianca, Country Roads Deli, Coyote Cove, Dunkin Donuts, Frank’s Pizza and Family Restaurant, Graziella’s Italian Café, Good Food Café, The Huntsman, Jean-Claude Patisserie, Khun Thon, Labi’D, La Rocca, Le Bistro II, The Lodge at Ocawasin, Macopin Pizza, Mama Mia’s Restaurant, Momento , Portofino Family Restaurant, SandS Deli, Short Stop Bagels, Simply Chic Wedding and Event Consultants, Town Tavern, Valley View Pub, Vesuvio Pizzeria, Village Square Inn, Vito and Joey’s and the West Milford Diner. These establishments supported us, I hope you will support them. This year we were able to raise additional funds by including a Silent Auction’. The handmade items auctioned were generously donated by their creators. The auction was coordinated by Katha Griswold, Supervisor/Coordinator of Occupational Education K-12. We are extremely grateful to her for making the works of art available to us. Thanks go to the student volunteers who helped us during the evening. They were instrumental in making sure that everyone was served and no one went home hungry. Mac, the chef at Ocawasin, helped us immensely, ensuring that the kitchen ran smoothly. Mark Fredericks, Carolyn Ott, Robert Masessa, Karen Brady, James Gilligan, Patricia Maglio, Lenora McGuire and Marilyn Shultz, fellow members of the West Milford Education Foundation, along with Glenn Kamp and Robert Florian, all contributed their time and talents to make the evening a success. Finally, thank you to the patrons who purchased tickets, the organizations who purchased ads in our journal, and those who sent in donations. The Education Foundation provides grants for new and existing programs above and beyond what is offered through the school budget. We provide what I like to call the ’bells and whistles’ that make the educational experience more than just reading and writing. With your support we will be able to support more ’wish lists’ in the coming year. Thank you to all. Debbie Grimmelmann, Chairperson
