Mayor Michele Dale recognized St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church for its 260th anniversary during the West Milford Township Council meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 12.

Founded in 1765 by laypeople, St. Joseph is the oldest Catholic parish in New Jersey. Its first church building was constructed and dedicated on Nov. 13, 1829. After a fire destroyed that structure, the current church was built on the same foundation and dedicated on Nov. 12, 1905.
