Politics. The New Jersey Veterans of Foreign Wars honored Assemblywoman Aura Dunn with its 2026 Legislator of the Year award in recognition of her legislative work and advocacy on behalf of New Jersey veterans.
Assemblywoman Aura Dunn has been named “Legislator of the Year” by the New Jersey Veterans of Foreign Wars in recognition of her work supporting veterans and military families across the state.
Dunn received the honor during the organization’s annual convention held May 28 in Wildwood.
“As a lawmaker, I have strived to always be worthy of the great sacrifice and commitment of our veterans,” Dunn said. She added that the recognition affirms her efforts in Trenton to expand resources and benefits for veterans and their families.
Dunn has sponsored legislation including the “Welcome Home Veterans Act,” aimed at making New Jersey more military-friendly and improving access to benefits. She has also advanced proposals addressing PTSD and traumatic brain injuries, workforce development, education opportunities and housing stability for veterans.
She has also advocated for protecting and strengthening Picatinny Arsenal and has participated in events connecting veterans with services through the New Jersey Department of Military and Veterans Affairs and local partners.
Dunn, who has served in the New Jersey General Assembly since 2019, is a member of the Military Skills Council and serves on the board of the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans Memorial Foundation.
“I will always stand with veterans,” Dunn said, noting her personal and family connections to military service.
